hemiplegia : 편마비

 

 hemiplegia[hèmiplí:dƷiə] : 편마비

 

몸의 어느 한쪽이 마비된 상태. 얼굴의 반쪽과 같은 쪽 팔-다리 모두에 운동마비가 일어난 상태를 말한다. 반신마비 또는 편마비라고도 한다. 수의운동을 지배하는 피라밋로가 대뇌의 겉질-겉질하, 속섬유막, 뇌줄기의 어느 부위에서건 장애를 받아도 일어난다. 마비는 숨뇌와 척수의 경계부에서 척수로가 대부분 교차되므로 장애 쪽과는 반대쪽에서 일어난다. 급성으로 발생한 뇌 속의 순환장애, 특히 속섬유막 부근의 출혈-괴사 등에 의해 일어나는 경우가 많다. 원인으로서는 뇌출혈을 비롯하여 뇌연화-뇌종양-동맥염-당뇨병-요독증 등을 들 수 있다.

 

Severe or complete loss of motor function on one side of the body. This condition is usually caused by brain diseases that are localized to the cerebral hemisphere opposite to the side of weakness. Less frequently, brain stem lesions; cervical spinal cord diseases; peripheral nervous system diseases; and other conditions may manifest as hemiplegia. The term hemiparesis (see paresis) refers to mild to moderate weakness involving one side of the body.
